Several key Abu Dhabi entities have teamed up to bring Yas Island into the metaverse as part of the first step in bringing Abu Dhabi into the virtual world, officials have announced.

Yas Island in the metaverse
This pioneering initiative is a first for the UAE in its recreation of an entire physical destination through multiple world-leading immersive 3D platforms.
The result will be a complete metaverse ecosystem, allowing visitors from around the world to access the joys, wonders and attractions of Yas Island from home.
The Yas Island metaverse is a collaboration between the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi), Aldar, Miral, twofour54, Abu Dhabi Motorsport and Flash Entertainment.
The virtual experiences conceived by these dynamic companies will allow users to meet, socialize, play, create and transact.
From building and buying digital homes to discovering cultural attractions, theme park adventures, special events, world-class golf courses and a world-class motor racing circuit, users will be able to experience all that Yas Island has to offer in a digital journey.
Customizable avatars and surprise rewards will be part of each user’s personalized adventure.

Currently under development, the island is being recreated using multiple world-leading metaverse platforms, such as The Sandbox and Roblox, and is powered by Super League Gaming, a global leader in metaverse games and experiences.
Once completed in Q1 2023, the Yas Island metaverse will be up and running and fully available to digital visitors.
