STEPN rewards you to earn crypto for every step you take

Recently STEPN, a running app on the Web3 with fun games, has revealed news that they have designed a new product that has been created to enhance and improve your walking experience.

They have developed a system that motivates you to spend more time outdoors by rewarding movement with cryptocurrencies. Built on Solana and created by developer FindSatoshi Lab, the app helps users earn money for walking, jogging or running.

How it works is simple

You move, you hit the streets, and you will be rewarded with cryptocurrencies, even non-native cryptocurrency users have benefited from the support of their family and friends, who are happy to invite their contacts to walk while earning cryptocurrency.

Rewards come in Stepn’s native cryptocurrency, the Green Satoshi Token or GST, and are credited to a wallet created in-game or imported externally. Players must start by purchasing some NFT tennis shoes to play, and can then increase the amount of GST earned per session by upgrading their tennis shoes. The tennis shoes, which are non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and can be traded on secondary markets, already fetch high prices, ranging from $400 to $100,000.

Two features are crucial to understanding how Stepn works. The first is the sneaker, which has a profound effect on the amount of money a player can earn and explains why some of these NFTs reach such astronomical sums.

Just as in a standard RPG, where you can upgrade your armor to resist certain attacks, in Stepn you upgrade your sneakers to maximize one or more of five different characteristics: Resilience, which slows wear and tear (and diminishing returns); Luck, which increases the chances of getting random prizes during a session; Comfort, which increases the intake of another type of token called GMT that relates to governance; and Efficiency, which increases the amount of GST performed per “energy” expended.

That brings us to the other key feature: Energy. In Stepn, energy is the unit of time a player is allotted for a movement-gain session; one unit represents five minutes.

Each player starts with just two units of energy that are replenished every 24 hours, meaning newbies only have ten minutes a day during which they can earn GST (the app will also make sure you move at the required speed relative to your shoe type).

The app has reached over 3 million monthly active users. With STEPN, more people are moving outdoors than ever before. With more people spending time outside, more people are learning a lot about their city.

Many people have reported that they are discovering previously undiscovered places and are being amazed by things they had never seen that were just blocks away from the house they lived in for years.

All of this discovery is amazing, yet many people are learning another unfortunate fact: many of our cities, particularly those in the United States, are not built properly for the everyday walker.

We have morphed into people who enjoy cars now. By 2020, there will be more than 276 million registered vehicles, and more than 92% of households report having access to at least one vehicle.

The effects of this have been evident in the way we plan our cities. We prioritize cars by creating wide, open roads used only by cars, buses, trucks and other motor vehicles.

Our health is severely impaired as a result. Our cities have become barren concrete deserts with hardly any vegetation.

Therefore, STEPN emphasizes ensuring better health and happiness for the world’s population, and to do so, the main goal is to design better cities.
