Socios.com is a platform that promotes soccer fan engagement through non fungible tokens (NFTs) and the metaverse. The platform has already incorporated several soccer clubs across Europe creating unique digital assets that fans can purchase to celebrate their involvement with their clubs.
Orlando City wants to leverage the platform’s experience and expertise in fan engagement to build better relationships with fans. In addition to other sponsorship-related exchanges, Socios.com will become the club’s official partner.
“With a shared vision in leveraging next-generation technology mixed with progressive experiences, Socios.com and Orlando City’s partnership forges a deeper connection with fans, and fuels growth on and off the field,” Orlando City SC wrote in a statement announcing the partnership.
Socios aims to create a unique community for MLS fans, spanning all 26 of the league’s top-tier clubs. The platform aims to offer fans exciting experiential products, all from one app starting in the 2022 season.
The deal primarily targets the younger generation of fans, as millennials represent the majority of the audience for any major U.S. sport.
“Socios.com seeks to enable Orlando City to combine its commitment to innovation and technology to leverage blockchain technology and provide the Club with tools to engage with fans in a more immersive way,” the release said.
The Socios.com app will be integrated into the league’s and partner clubs’ social channels and the agreement will also entitle it to signage at partner clubs’ home games.
Max Rabinovitch, Chief Strategy Officer of Socios.com, commented, “Joining forces with Orlando City SC to explore what the best iteration of our blockchain-based fan engagement product will become is really exciting.”
“This partnership is going to have far-reaching positive impacts on our evolution and will shed light on what the Partners fan engagement universe can be on the blockchain,” Rabinovitch added.
