MultiVersus, Warner Bros.’ new Smash Bros. style fighting video game, revealed its new characters Rick Sanchez, Morty Smith and LeBron James.
Announced during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, these characters were revealed along with a closer look at LeBron’s performance in the platform brawler.
While it may seem incongruous to put LeBron James, a real-life person and a professional NBA basketball player, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a “fictional” version of him, as the first came with the 2012 film, Space Jam: A New Legacy.

LeBron James with Rick and Morty
The MultiVersus panel also confirmed that Rick & Morty’s Morty Smith will join the title’s roster on August 9, while Rick Sanchez will be available at a later date.
LeBron James, along with Rick and Morty join a roster that includes a host of characters from various franchises owned by Warner Bros. Discovery; such as Batman, Steven Universe and the recently announced, Iron Giant .
MultiVersus is a platform fighting title in the style of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. and brings together characters from all over Warner Bros.
Even before today’s announcement, it was an unusual mix, featuring Batman, Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, Shaggy from Scooby-Doo and Steven Universe, among others.
An open beta of MultiVersus started this week and will run until July 26 and below is a gallery where you can see what the basketball player looks like in this video game.
