The Premier League filed trademark applications with the USPTO on April 19, 2023, to offer NFTs and virtual items such as clothing, football shirts, sports bags, sports equipment, and more.
The applications also claim that the league plans to launch an online marketplace for buyers and sellers of non-fungible assets and crypto collectibles, as well as software that allows users to store, transmit, and trade cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens.
Earlier today, Michael Kondoudis, a trademark lawyer with a focus on Web3-related applications, announced the news via Twitter.

The move comes after the league filed trademark applications in June 2022 to enter the metaverse and adopt NFTs, and in January 2023, signed a multi-year partnership with Sorare to issue NFT cards featuring Premier League players from the league’s 20 clubs.
