TIME Square in the Metaverse
Inspired by the visual spirit and energy of the iconic New York neighborhood, TIME Square will serve as a destination for gathering, art and commerce curated by TIME’s NFT community, TIMEPieces. The partnership was unveiled by TIME President Keith A. Grossman during The Sandbox event at NFT NYC.

Grossman also launched an open call for architects to design TIME Square at The Sandbox, reimagining the world-renowned cultural hub for the metaverse. For this venture, TIMEPieces is reaching out to its vibrant community and metaverse enthusiasts around the world to identify a visionary architect to recreate and reimagine the destination as a voxel creation.
“Our goal is to create a destination that is the heart of the metaverse. Since the launch of TIMEPieces in September 2021, we have focused on developing a community on Web3 that benefited from the incredible 100-year legacy and access that TIME has established,” said Keith A. Grossman, president of TIME.
“We are thrilled to now tap into that community as we search for the architect to design TIME Square in the metaverse, as we create an immersive experience with The Sandbox that provides a natural bridge between the TIMEPieces virtual community, TIME’s historical coverage and global relationships, the unique IP coming from TIME Studios, TIME for Kids and our real-life eventsIRL,” he added.
TIME Square will be an inclusive environment serving the TIMEPieces community by providing virtual access to discussions, events, TIME Studios project screenings and educational experiences.
“The Sandbox is often seen as a ‘virtual Manhattan,’ a vibrant space full of culture, entertainment and brands, where anyone can discover, learn, work, meet new people, play, dance and find amazing new opportunities,” said Sebastien Borget, COO and co-founder of The Sandbox. “By partnering with TIME, we are adding TIMEPieces as the beating heart and soul of this virtual Manhattan, where a design call for virtual architects will be held in TIME Square, a place in our creative metaverse for brands and creators.”
Information on how to apply for the opportunity to partner with TIMEPieces to build TIME Square is available on the TIMEPieces website.
Lately, The Sandbox has been securing high-profile partnerships with major media companies. Last week it partnered with Lionsgate to create a film destination in the metaverse.
