Eminem and Snoop Dogg’s BAYC-themed “From the D 2 The LBC!” music video has been nominated for “Best Hip Hop” at the 2022 MTV VMAs.

Eminem and Snoop Dogg will perform this Sunday at this year’s MTV Virtual Music Awards (VMAs). The celebrated rappers will perform their hit collab “From the D 2 The LBC” inside the metaverse world Otherside in collaboration with Yuga Labs.
“Eminem and Snoop will hit the MTV VMAs this Sunday for a one-of-a-kind performance of From the D 2 The LBC,” reads a statement on Eminem’s website.
It will be the first metaverse-inspired performance to air live from the Prudential Center on Sunday, August 28 at 8PM ET/PT, according to the press release.
In June, Eminem and Snoop Dogg appeared as bored monkeys in a new music video, which featured 2D animations of their BAYC NFTs.
The two artists are nominated for “Best Hip Hop” with “From the D 2 The LBC,” their first collaboration in more than 20 years.
Eminem last performed at the VMAs more than 12 years ago with “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie,” and is the second most nominated artist in VMA history with 60 nominations. Madonna, another artist who has recently made inroads at the VMAs, tops the list with 69 nominations.
On the other hand, Snoop Dogg has not participated in the VMAs since he performed with Diddy and Notorious BIG in 2005. The 13-time nominee has bagged 3 awards, while his collab “From the D 2 The LBC” has won 13 awards, putting him in the top five list of artists with the most awards.

Snoop’s Web3 activity has made him one of the most popular celebrities in the space, after partnering with Animoca Brands subsidiary The Sandbox to create Snoopverse, a virtual world with Snoop-themed NFTs, virtual real estate and games.
The performance within the Otherside metaverse further expands its footprints on the web3, capitalizing on the rapidly growing virtual concert market.

Otherside is in the development stage, and its release date is not yet confirmed. The company has shared that the game is in Phase 1, meaning that only NFT owners of Othersdeed land and a select few developers can access aspects of the MMORPG-based title.

The VMAs performance shows how NFTs are making their way into mainstream culture. NFTs have become status symbols for rich and popular people, with BAYC being everyone’s favorite, be it restaurants or M&Ms.
According to promoters, Otherside’s performance will be a unique experience. The song has been a massive hit with nearly 46 million views, plus a VMA nomination in the “Best Hip-Hop Song” category.
It has become a favorite among rappers, as well as the growing trend of Bored Ape-based music videos. The song has received 25 million streams on Spotify.
Eminem is making the most of the BAYC NFT he purchased in December and has been using it as his Twitter profile picture ever since.
Of note, the MTV Video Music Awards 2022 have added the award category for “Best Metaverse Performance”.
