OpenAI now allows you to create customized versions of ChatGPT

It’s been almost a year since the arrival of ChatGPT, which marked a turning point in the way users interact with the tools available on the web. OpenAI, the company that owns ChatGPT, is now holding its first developer conference, where among other things, it has just announced the arrival of a platform that will allow the creation of customized versions of ChatGPT, called GPT, for specific uses, both personal and professional, and best of all, without the need for coding.

GPTs from private use to public access

The company says that users can create GPTs for private use, for internal use in a company or for public use, where it will be enough to start a conversation, establish instructions and additional knowledge and indications of what to do, giving as examples the ability to search the web, create images or perform data analysis.

Users can create their own GPTs as of today by simply starting at chatgpt.com/create. The idea is that GPTs will be created by the user community itself over time to meet different types of needs and can be shared publicly.

Access to the GPTs of examples already created will be available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise subscribers, although over time their availability will be extended to more users.

GPT Store: A Marketplace for Custom GPTs

By the end of November, the GPT Store will offer creations by verified creators, where users will find GPTs through a leaderboard, but also the most outstanding ones through a series of categories. In a few months, creators will also be able to earn money with their GPTs.

It could not fail to compensate creators for their work. In this sense, OpenAI also points out that in the coming months creators will be able to earn money based on the use made of their GPTs, although for the moment the company has not offered more information regarding income, where details will most likely be provided in due course.

As far as privacy is concerned, OpenAI points out that users have nothing to worry about, as they will always be in control of their data and it will never be offered to the creators of GPTs.

They add: “If a GPT uses third-party APIs, you choose whether data can be sent to that API. When builders customize their own GPT with actions or insights, the builder can choose whether user chats with that GPT can be used to improve and train our models.”

On the security level, OpenAI has ensured that its new platform will not be used for the creation of harmful GPTs with mitigation mechanisms in place, which will be increased over time.

Over time, GPTs will be able to come to “perform real tasks in the real world”, with developers having possibilities for this both through built-in capabilities and also through custom actions using one or more APIs. They add: “Connect GPT to databases, connect them to emails or turn them into your shopping assistant. For example, you could integrate a travel listing database, connect a user’s email inbox or facilitate e-commerce orders.”
