Luxury car manufacturer Bentley is making its first foray into Web3 with its upcoming NFT installment of the genesis Bentley NFT collection. The collection is limited to just 208 pieces and is scheduled for September this year.
The number 208 is important to Bentley, as it is the top speed of its fastest Grand Tourer (the Continental GT Speed) and the total run of the iconic 1952 R-Type Continental, the car that inspired Bentley’s modern design DNA.

Bentley NFT Genesis
The Bentley NFT genesis will be created by the Bentley design team and the artwork will be revealed upon delivery in September. With this first release, Bentley is taking a long-term approach to expanding its reach into the Web3 ecosystem.
Bentley’s delivery of NFT will be an integral first step into the Web3 space, as the automaker plans to explore other digital platforms, including NFC (non-fungible chips), online gaming, metaverse applications, and the use of blockchain technology across the organization.
Bentley NFT owners will enjoy exclusive community opportunities, rewards and unique utilities to be announced soon.

Bentley’s collection will be minted at Polygon due to its recent carbon neutral status and its commitment to be carbon negative by the end of this year. This means that all Bentley NFTs will be carbon neutral.
Bentley has placed importance on sustainability in its first step into Web3, as all of its vehicles will be all-electric from 2030 in its goal to achieve end-to-end carbon neutrality by 2030.
Proceeds from NFT sales will contribute to Bentley’s philanthropic efforts and accelerate support for students interested in engineering, design and manufacturing, all areas where Bentley requires new talent annually.
Bentley also plans to support organizations working to increase sustainability efforts, especially in the transportation sector.
Other automotive companies that have recently taken their first steps into Web3 include Chevrolet, Acura, Lamborghini and Alfa Romeo.
