Sensorium Company announced the Vatican’s entry into the metaverse, with its NFT gallery of some 800 works of art.
Sensorium is a metaverse developer, will support the creation and development of the first NFT gallery that will house the Vatican museums’ art, content and academic pieces.
The Vatican is to open an official NFT VR gallery to democratize art. The project will be executed by Humanity 2.0 Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes the socio-economic and cultural development of humanity through leadership, media and technology, as reported by Sensorium on its official website.

Vatican’s NFT gallery to showcase unique art
The Vatican, officially Vatican City State, is a city-state within Rome, Italy. It is a sacred place, especially to the Catholic Church, and its presence dates back more than a thousand years. Now, the Vatican will eternalize part of this collection as NFT.
Humanity 2.0 plays an important role in supporting Web 3.0 at the Vatican. In addition, the company’s president is Father Philip Larrey. Significantly, he has written books on technology and artificial intelligence.
In a statement about the Vatican’s NFT gallery, Father Larrey said, “We look forward to working with Sensorium to explore ways to democratize art, making it more accessible to people around the world, regardless of their socioeconomic and geographic limitations.”
Vatican City is the smallest country in the world and has its own laws and regulations. In addition, the works of art and objects inside are priceless and a crucial part of world history.
St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel are some of the highlights of the city. In this historic place you can see works of art, statues and much more. In total, there are more than 70,000 works in the Vatican Museum. Among them are works by Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael and many more. The Vatican plans to show these works of art to people using the NFTs.
While it is unclear if these Vatican NFTs will be for sale, it is exciting to see them using NFT technology.
Vatican to democratize art with its NFTs
The Vatican museums receive more than 6 million visitors a year, making them some of the most famous museums in the world, yet not everyone has the resources to visit.
This NFT gallery will make it possible to provide a means by which anyone with internet access can enjoy its works, either through virtual reality, a PC or download the mobile app to watch broadcasts and create unique NPCs.
The NFT collection features nearly 800 works of art by 250 international artists, including Michelangelo, Raphael, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, Paul Gauguin, Wassily Kandinsky, Vincent van Gogh and Pablo Picasso.
Sensorium Galaxy is now in beta and will be launched later this year 2022.
