Legendary film director Spike Lee will release a collection of NFTs related to his 1986 film “She’s Gotta Have It.” Lee will release this collection in collaboration with The Visible Project and Habitat Labs.

In total, there will be 3,945 NFTs, which will feature stills of Mars Blackmon, played by Lee himself. The collection will also include additional artwork by Tré Seals and Adrian Franks. Interestingly, the NFTs will also feature unique generative features inspired by the film.
NFTs also marks Spike Lee’s tenure as president of The Visible Project. This project will serve as an incubator for democratized new-age content driven by the NFTs. In addition, it will help filmmakers enter the Web3 through the NFT space.
In addition, The Visible Project will also dedicate a portion of each sale to support the next generation of filmmakers.

Lee owns and controls the rights to “She’s Gotta Have It.” Therefore, he will have no copyright or licensing issues with the release of these NFTs. The same cannot be said for Quentin Tarantino, who faced legal problems after announcing the NFTs. Miramax filed a lawsuit against Tarantino for copyright infringement after the filmmaker announced the Pulp Fiction NFTs.
