Opera Software is also no stranger to the rise of generative AI, as many other tech companies are making a strong bet on intelligent features based on generative AI models.
Today, we are introducing Aria, our latest browser AI. By utilizing Aria, you gain free access to a cutting-edge generative AI service. Aria is seamlessly integrated directly into the browser, signifying the dawn of an entirely novel browsing experience.
This innovative feature allows you to embark on a new realm of browsing, enhancing both your creativity and productivity by harnessing the power of AI.
And Beyond the launch earlier this year of the first ChatGPT integration in its desktop version as well as the recent launch of Opera One as its browser redesigned to host more generative AI features, they now present Aria as the new feature that will mark the “beginning of a new kind of browsing experience.”
Opera’s new browser AI is here: Aria!
It’s now available as a free service in early access for our PC & Mobile Browsers starting today.

Improving web browsing productivity
Aria is basically a free service integrated into the Opera browser sidebar, being able to perform a multitude of functions such as text generation, code writing, answering questions, and more, where it will be enough to have an active Opera account and interact with Aria through text chat requests.
Aria is based on Opera’s “Composer” infrastructure and connects to OpenAI’s GPT technology, but unlike ChatGPT, Aria is able to provide real-time feedback from across the web.
New capabilities to come in the future
Opera notes that since Composer is easy to expand and supports connection to multiple AI models, it will have additional capabilities such as “multiple Opera partner search services” in the future.
Opera points out that Aria will have a greater integration within Opera in the following versions, looking to reach the goal of “integrating natively into the browser” enabling interactions on the web with the help of Artificial Intelligence.
Aria is Opera’s bet (and answer) to the integration of features based on generative Artificial Intelligence that Microsoft has been carrying out in its Edge web browser, also in collaboration with OpenAI.
Aria, for now, is available for those who wish to test it out
For now, the Aria service is in the testing phase.
Opera says that to access Aria you have to download the latest version of Opera One for developers, this is in the case of desktop, although for Android users you have to get the latest beta version of the browser, downloadable directly from Google Play Store.
And in addition to having Opera account, the company says:
Once your (Opera user) account is whitelisted, you can access Aria through the Opera for Android beta settings or through the Opera One browser sidebar.

Opera’s browser AI strategy
Aria represents the next phase in our initiative to integrate generative AI services into our browsers, which has been made possible through our collaboration with OpenAI. Earlier this year, we introduced an initial implementation of ChatGPT within the sidebar of our desktop browser, accompanied by the AI Prompts feature.
Furthermore, we unveiled Opera One, a revamped edition of our flagship browser designed to accommodate a wider range of generative AI capabilities through its modular design. We are now pushing forward by introducing a browser AI that enables you to interact with the web directly within the browser, enhanced by the assistance of AI.
In its current form, Aria takes the shape of a chat interface that directly communicates with you, the user, signifying the initial phase of this project.
As we progress, this AI-powered service will become even more deeply integrated into Opera in future browser versions, with the ultimate objective of seamlessly blending into the browser to assist you with cross-browser tasks.
Getting started
Aria stands out as a free service that provides real-time information, offering a more advanced solution compared to standard GPT-based alternatives. Unlike those limited to content prior to 2021, Aria remains connected to the internet, ensuring up-to-date data. This exceptional offering is available in over 180 countries, including the EU.
If you are an Opera user on a desktop, you can try out Aria by downloading the latest version of Opera One (developer version). Android users, on the other hand, can test Aria in the newest beta release of the browser, which is available for download on the Google Play Store.
To access Aria as a tester, all you need to do is create an Opera account if you don’t have one already. Once you’ve completed the account creation process, you will receive a notification via email or within the product itself regarding your whitelisting status.
After your Opera account has been whitelisted, you can access Aria either through the settings of Opera for Android beta or via the browser sidebar of Opera One.
