Calvin Harris’ next concert will take place in the metaverse and will be accessible through the PICO VR headset.
Calvin Harris, the famous producer, songwriter and DJ, has unveiled his next show; this time, fans will also be able to experience it in the metaverse.
At the premiere, scheduled for January 13 at 8 p.m. GMT, fans will be able to attend the show live via TikTok LIVE, or in VR exclusively (for those in Asia and Europe) using a PICO VR headset.
In the virtual experience, which will last approximately one hour, Calvin Harris will perform with an avatar and fans will participate as avatars. As part of the show, VR participants will also be able to add personalized and dynamic musical elements to their VR experience.
Users can participate in the virtual experience by downloading the PICO Video app and selecting The Calvin Harris Experience in the PICO Video feed at the time of the event.
The Asia-Pacific broadcast will be on January 17 at 8 p.m. JST and will include the TikTok LIVE and Virtual Reality experience.
The star DJ performs as a virtual avatar
The nearly hour-long ‘Calvin Harris Experience’ kicks off on Friday, January 13 at 9pm. The British DJ, producer and singer reached No. 2 on the charts for 42 weeks in 2017 with the album ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1’, earning a platinum record.
The album includes collaborations with pop stars such as Ariana Grande, Pharrell Williams and Nicki Minaj.
During The Calvin Harris Experience, the DJ will act as an avatar in an immersive environment that users will be free to explore.
It will also be possible to interact with other concert-goers and create custom effects and messages that rise into the air.
The concert can be viewed through the free Pico Video app, available in the Pico app store.
And those unable to attend will be able to watch the “replay” between January 14 and 26 at 9 p.m. each night.
You can also watch a shortened version of the concert on your smartphone via TikTok-Live.

The event comes just months after David Guetta broke the TikTok playback record for the last live performance of his Ibiza residency in September, which recorded 638,400 particular visitors.
As another of the top DJs on the planet, both Calvin Harris and the TikTok and Pico team are hoping for similar success with this event.
Paul Hourican, TikTok’s global director of music operations, spoke of the excitement around the company ahead of the telecast:
