August 1, 2024 — Pixels, the largest web3 game by daily active gamers, today launched Guild Crop Wars, a new event where guilds compete to cultivate the most cave mushrooms to win a part of the $85,000 USD in $PIXEL prize pool.
Guild Crop Wars is the first event in Pixels to feature guild teamwork-style gameplay and the element of sabotage, pushing players to strategize and collaborate within their guilds to emerge victorious. Players will plant spores, water crops, fertilize, and harvest mushrooms, while also buying goo to use offensively against opponents. Purchased Fertilizer can be used to speed up the growth of your mushrooms while Water can be used both to maintain crop growth and for defensive purposes, protecting crops after sabotage.
The primary objective is to deposit mushrooms into the Transmushtation Chute to earn Mushroom Points, sabotage opponents, achieve set milestones, climb the leaderboards, and gain $PIXEL rewards. The event will also feature milestones based on various activities that individuals and guilds can achieve. Examples of these activities include using the most goo on other guild crops, earning the most guano points, and accumulating the most spores points. Each activity will have a specific point value associated with it, which will be tracked on the in-game leaderboards.
In Chapter 2, Guilds will increasingly become an integral part of Pixels gameplay offering various rewards, including maximizing resource production, achieving gameplay goals, and increasing earning potential. Today, there are 1,768 active Pixels Guilds.
“When we introduced Pixels Guilds in March of this year, the purpose was to help us implement more social dynamics and play, with Guilds becoming an important part of the core gameplay experience. We are excited to introduce Guild Crop Wars as one way to bring more engagement and fun to our community and we plan to use the insights gained from this event to inform future LiveOps events,” said Luke Barwikowski, Pixels founder and CEO.
Guild Crop Wars begins on Friday, August 2nd at 9:00 AM PT and ends Monday, August 5th at 9:00 AM PT and is only available to Pixels Guild members. To participate, players will need to be pledged to a Guild.
