NFT and metaverse trademark applications have become quite common and the food business seems to be among the most active industries.

Mars Inc. the world’s leading chocolate maker recently applied for a trademark for “SNICKERS” to enter the metaverse and non-fungible tokens.

Trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis announced the news via a tweet.

The application was filed with the USPTO on June 13. Through the mark, the brand intends to offer.

  • NFTs or other digital tokens based on blockchain technology;
  • Virtual goods such as chocolate, confectionery, frozen confectionery, candy and chewing gum, snacks and virtual beverages;
  • Online retail store services with virtual products;
  • Online virtual store environments with virtual products, virtual art and avatars for use in virtual environments.

The M&M’s brand

On the other hand, Mars Inc. has re-filed an NFT trademark application for its very famous M&M’s brand.

Trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis revealed the news in a tweet on June 24.

His tweet said the trademark filing targets NFTs, digital tokens, virtual candies and snickers.

The application was filed on June 20 and covered software for transmitting, authenticating and storing digital currency, NFTs, tokens and cryptocurrencies. The trademark will also offer virtual entertainment services.

Notably, NFT trademark applications filed in the United States have exceeded 4,000 between January 1 and May 31, 2022.

The concept of NFT and metaverse is continuously expanding, which makes popular brands fall for it and give their best to make maximum profit and establish long-term ties with customers.

Other brands that have filed trademark applications

Recently introduced on June 17 was the DOVE chocolate brand, which covers virtual snacks and drinks, NFTs and digital tokens, software for digital coins/tokens, crypto-collectibles, among others

Other food companies such as McDonald’s, Subway and KFC have also entered the metaverse, aiming to move their products into the growing virtual world.
