Frank’s RedHot, the world’s #1 hot sauce* and a brand known for spicing up game day meals, will launch its own game in Fortnite, ‘The Floor is Flava,’ on January 30.

‘The Floor is Lava,’ a flavor-packed version of Fortnite’s ‘The Floor is Lava’ challenge inspired by the classic children’s game, takes place on an immersive chicken wing-shaped island and revolves around a volcano that spits Frank’s RedHot sauce (aka lava, because Frank’s + Lava = Lava!) everywhere.

“Frank’s created the first edible chicken wing NFT last year. In 2023, we’re going even further by combining iconic game day foods with one of the world’s most popular online multiplayer games, Fortnite,” said Tom Rowe, Director of Global Digital Experiences for McCormick. “Whether you watch the game or play virtually, Frank’s gives you the perfect blend of warmth and flavor to the Big Game and the game.”

Throughout the game, users move through unfamiliar terrain: beaches, forests, and a ruined city, each offering RedHot-themed elements to climb higher on Frank’s Mountain.

Players can leap over stone statues of iconic foods of the day, use chickens as jetpacks and play defense with RedHot sauce launchers and creepy grenades.

Fans of Frank’s will discover other brand-inspired gameplay elements, such as the Tender Defender skin, speed-boosting Chili Chugs and a hidden temple in the heart of the volcano.

In addition, experienced Fortnite players will be able to see their favorite characters from the past hidden in the game, such as Beef Boss and Tomatohead. Frank’s RedHot has also brought in some of Fortnite’s best players, such as Ali-A, SushiBAE, SypherPK, Typical Gamer and Zemie, to take up the challenge and push fans to dive into the delicious doom.

Frank’s RedHot first entered the metaverse when it launched the first “edible NFT” cryptocurrency and “Bonecoin” to celebrate buffalo wings before the Big Game.

Now, with “The Floor is Flava,” Frank aims to reach a new audience of salsa lovers with its most virtual and immersive experience to date. Ahead of soccer’s most anticipated weekend, Frank’s will partner with local commerce platform DoorDash to offer free wings** to fans in the U.S. and Canada.

Fortnite is free to play on Playstation, Xbox, Switch, Android, PC and cloud game streaming services. Stay tuned for more information on the DoorDash promotion, which will be announced soon.

Frank’s RedHot and Web3

This isn’t Frank’s RedHot’s first foray into Web3; in January 2022, the company debuted the first edible NFT, where fans could scan images of their chicken wings to earn Bonecoins.

Those who accumulated the most Bonecoins had a chance to win not only Frank’s Redhot NFT but also its edible version, the eNFT.

Fortnite and web3

Fortnite is becoming a platform for brands to introduce new virtual experiences for consumers, providing a unique and engaging way to connect with their offerings.

For example, Timex, a U.S. watch manufacturer founded in 1854, announced last month a new challenge in Fortnite: to become the “official timekeeper of the metaverse.”

Polo Ralph Lauren collaborated with Fortnite on a new logo and the launch of a physical and digital collection in November.

Similarly, Armani Beauty entered the Fortnite metaverse in September with ‘Rewrite the Code’, a gaming experience inspired by the Armani Code Parfum men’s perfume.
