LOS ANGELES, MARCH 21, 2023 – XLA, a community-driven organization of video game and entertainment industry professionals, will today announce ‘Metasites’; a modular 3D Internet framework that leverages metaverse, cloud, and AI technologies.

Funded with an initial investment of $100 million, XLA Metasites enables users to transform virtual worlds by creating unique content. XLA Chief Product Officer Alexey Savchenko will present a demo of Metasites this afternoon at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco during a panel titled “Emerging Approaches: The lessons in social and narrative design using synthetic media that we can learn from the Metaverse.”

The presentation will reveal Metasites’ high-fidelity graphics, core experience, instant access to the system in the cloud via the browser, OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 integration that powers non-active characters and their behavior, the IVEE virtual assistant, the ability to semantically parse text and generate 3D scenes in UE5, and many other features.

Metasites enables creators to publish their content created using Unreal Engine 5 and utilize the various features and services available in the XLA ecosystem.

“Savchenko will explain that these locations are called Metasites, and the concept is that they are all interconnected in an endless network of 3D environments that can be explored. Similar to hyperlinks, portals link these worlds, and the underlying system operates on a collection of open protocols and standards, much like the current web. They are convinced that the future of the internet lies in 3D, and they seek to collaborate with creators and businesses from diverse fields and industries to build it together.”

Access to Metasites for individual creators and enterprise customers will be based on a revenue-sharing model, giving each user full control and management of their content.

Users will be granted entry to virtual assets and various tools, such as a versatile software development kit (SDK), an experience editor, an inventory and item management system, payment processing, marketing tools, and many others.

XLA aims to provide a seamless and interoperable experience for digital items, with various functionalities linked to inventory objects across different environments.

“Savchenko will assert that XLA represents a progression of the internet and a new form of storytelling, where authors create immersive worlds that offer agency, presence, and narratives accessible from multiple platforms. This is not just about introducing games to a new audience, but about making communication, education, trade, play, and creation easier while being fairly compensated for one’s actions.”

Metasites will be unveiled at GDC at 4:40 p.m. PDT in Room 24, West Hall, Moscone Center, alongside Hexagram founder and CEO Rob Auten.

The framework is scheduled for a closed beta in the summer of 2023, with enterprise and creator programs opening next quarter and full commercial launch expected in Q4 2023.

About XLA

XLA was established in February 2022 with a focus on developing pioneering marketing integrations that utilize digital items to synchronize revenue sharing on the blockchain with partners.

At XLA, we strongly support decentralization and the fair economics of the Internet. We believe users should have complete creative freedom to construct their content and URL-based Metasites in any style or environment they choose, while retaining ownership. They should only be responsible for processing, operational, and platform expenses.

Along with access to Metasites, XLA will provide users with access to a full suite of ancillary features and services, including a versatile SDK, experiences editor, inventory and item management system, payment processing, marketing tools and much more.
