Ozzfest will take place in the Decentraland metaverse this year, marking the second edition of the Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival (MVMF).
The festival, to be held in the virtual world Decentraland, will take place Nov. 10-13 and will feature more than 100 performances.
The event will mark the second iteration of the festival, and will see the former Black Sabbath frontman set up his Ozzfest festival.
Other acts scheduled for the festival will be announced in the coming weeks.
The statement on the Metaverse festival website reads, “Set in an otherworldly cyberpunk landscape being reclaimed by nature, the festival will feature 15 uniquely designed stages featuring more than 100 musical artists from a wide variety of genres, as well as new interactive experiences.”
Held in partnership with Kraken, the festival will be free to attend and users will not need to wear VR headsets.

About Ozzy Osbourne
Earlier this month, Ozzy’s wife and manager Sharon Osbourne came clean about Ozzy’s Parkinson’s diagnosis.
During an appearance on Jeremy Paxman’s ITV documentary, Paxman: Putting Up With Parkinson’s, which explores the broadcaster’s story of his life with the neurological disorder, Sharon spoke about how Parkinson’s – which Ozzy was diagnosed with in 2003 – has changed the singer’s life.
“I just think about my husband, who was very energetic, loved to go out for walks, would do a two-hour show on stage every night, running around like crazy. All of a sudden, your life stops, life as you knew it,” she explains.
“When I look at my husband, my heart breaks for him. It saddens me to see him like this, but what he suffers is worse. When I look at him and he doesn’t know, I start crying.”
When Paxman asks Sharon if there is any silver lining to the illness, she replies, “The positive is that we spend a lot more time together as a family and that I love my husband more than I did three years ago.”
About Ozzfest
Ozzfest, an annual music festival tour founded in 1996 by Ozzy Osbourne’s wife and manager and featuring performances by various heavy metal and hard rock bands, will take place this year in the metaverse.
More than 100 artists, including Ozzy Osbourne, will perform virtually at the digital festival, which will take place in Decentralandia from November 10-13.
About the Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival (MVMF)
The festival will be the second edition of the Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival (MVMF), which debuted in October 2021 and attracted more than 50,000 visitors.
However, this year will be a little different. Decentraland has been working on additional features and abilities so that avatars can enjoy the event virtually as if they were in the real world.
For example, the introduction of NFT Emotes allows any artist from anywhere in the world to develop creative actions and gestures that bring the avatars to life and allow them to express themselves, such as performing dance moves.
In addition, Kraken, the event’s presenting partner, will launch a series of NFT wearables exclusively for festival attendees, open an NFT pop-up gallery and host a unique after-festival party.
