This news comes after MonkeyLeague partnered with current Italian Serie A champions AC Milan. Like Dybala, AC Milan will test the game, be a design partner for in-game assets, sponsor esports tournaments and participate in joint marketing events.
Dybala was previously named Serie A’s most valuable player and has won the Italian top league five times and the Coppa Italia four times. The 28-year-old Argentine striker has scored 160 goals so far in his career.
“With a deep appreciation for gaming, eSports and champion teams, I am excited to partner with MonkeyLeague, a leader in Web3 eSports gaming. With this partnership, we will bring MonkeyLeague and Web3 eSports to the masses,” said Dybala.
MonkeyLeague and Dybala will team up on upcoming NFT releases or in-game assets such as MonkeyAthletes and limited edition stadiums.
In addition, Paulo will headline one of MonkeyLeague’s upcoming breeding seasons, a feature that allows Monkey NFT holders to breed them to create new digital collectibles for the game’s franchise.
Oren Langberg, Director of Marketing and Partnerships at MonkeyLeague, added:
“Our goal at MonkeyLeague is to bring Web3 games to the masses. This will be done through high quality Web3 gaming experiences and strategic partnerships. Our partnership with AC Milan and now with an absolute legend, Paulo Dybala, are exactly that. Paulo’s drive for excellence, dedication and champion attitude make him the perfect match as our brand ambassador to bring MonkeyLeague to the world.”
Paulo’s addition to the MonkeyLeague roster comes just weeks after the Web3 soccer game announced its first major professional soccer partnership with reigning Italian Serie A champions AC Milan. Like Paulo, AC Milan will test the game, be a design partner for in-game assets, sponsor esports tournaments and participate in co-marketing events.
On October 6, MonkeyLeague kicked off its historic partnership by auctioning off 16 limited edition MonkeyPlayer NFTs that pay homage to the celebrated AC Milan teams of ’93/94 and ’95/96. The lot was sold at the Solana Magic Eden NFTs marketplace, with the highest one going for 179 SOL, or about $6,086 according to the same day’s SOL price.
MonkeyLeague and Paulo will team up on upcoming NFT releases for in-game assets, such as the limited edition MonkeyAthletes and stadiums.
In addition, Paulo will headline one of MonkeyLeague’s upcoming replay seasons, a feature that allows Monkey NFT holders to replay them together to create new MonkeyAthlete NFTs for the game’s franchise.
During Paulo Dybala’s season, Dybala’s traits will randomly pop out of newly minted Monkeys. MonkeyLeague and Paulo will also work closely together to promote the game’s releases, scheduled for late 2022.
MonkeyLeague is a web3 strategy soccer game deployed on the Solana network, with scheduled releases of the initial versions of the game planned for Q4 2022.
